Natural Facial Treatments which Promote Healthier Skin

How many of us are habitual of using synthetic face washes and moisturizers? I know I am. But have you ever thought about what our ancestors, from times long forgotten, did to keep their skins fresh and healthy? How did they manage to survive the winters without any moisturizers, whatsoever?

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is, perhaps, one of the oldest skin remedies, and it is still one of the most effective ones. And why should not it be for, it has almost everything that the skin needs. Aloe Vera has natural antibacterial properties that kill the germs and bacteria that cause various skin nuisances—such as acne. Aloe Vera, also soothes irritated skin and heals scars. On top of that, Aloe Vera is a natural moisturizer which is used in various synthetic moisturizers that we have today.

In order to benefit from the benefits of aloe vera at your home, simply apply the aloe vera gel to your face (extract the gel from an aloe vera leaf first) with the aid of a cotton ball. Allow it to dry for half an hour, at least, before rinsing the leftover traces with lukewarm water. Repeating this procedure several times a week will ensure that your skin will remain healthier for longer.

Lemon

The fact that lemon is rich in vitamin C and citric acid has made it one of the most used ingredients for skin care treatments. Vitamin C, as you may know, appreciates the cell renewal process which is helpful in getting rid of dark circles. Citric acid, on the other hand, removes dead cell, giving the skin a fresh appearance in the process. When you combine this with lemon’s bleaching property, you cannot help but commend Mother Nature for bearing such a useful fruit.

Lemon can be used in a variety of ways, depending upon the need and with other ingredients. For glowing skin, scrubbing your face with a mixture of two teaspoons each of sugar and lemon and leaving it on for about ten minutes does wonders.

Coffee

Coffee is best known for what it does to your body, early in the morning, the fact that it contains antioxidants means that it can do wonders for maintaining the elasticity of your skin. Since caffeine has anti-aging properties, it can be used to effectively battle inflammation and soreness for all skin types.

There are multiple facial recipes that coffee can be used in, depending upon an individual requirement. It can be used in the compositions of such facial masks and scrubs that not only prevent dryness but refresh your skin as well. 

Turmeric

Evidence of turmeric being used for healthier skin can be found in the ancient Ayurvedic medicines and treatments, dating back to more than 3,000 years. It does not matter if it is a problem of scars, allergies or skin infections that you are struggling with; the fact of the matter is that turmeric has got the solution for all of them. On top of that, turmeric helps in maintaining the overall pH balance of your skin, which is a key requirement for clear skin.

Turmeric can be used in a variety of ways for healthier skin, but given the fact that it has side effects in some cases, it is necessary to practice precaution when finding out what caters to your needs. Remember: everything doesn’t work for everyone.

Water

Are you doing long shifts at work and have, absolutely no time for any of the natural remedies listed above? Do not worry, because water is there for the rescue. A splash of water on your face has the potential of increasing the moisture in your skin, manifold. What it means is that, merely, rinsing your face with clear water not only helps in keeping it moisturized, but it helps with any acne problems that might exist, as well. While you are rinsing your face, remember not to leave the water running. Water is priceless, and it needs to be conserved!

These natural, home remedies are useful, no doubt, but it’s important to consult experts in complex cases. Remember: if the damage to your skin is severe, there is little that remedies can do.
